I don't want it to be completely removed just less intense. The author of this topic has marked a post as the answer to their question. Click here to jump to that post. Sure every great once and awhile someone puts a boat out with a stack and heads my way, but then that's why I have a navy to sink them with.
Meanwhile on land most of what I encounter are armies belonging to whoever I'm busy invading on the way to wiping off the map. The AI doesn't really seem to care if you expand. They do care if their provinces touch yours, and if your armies are spread out poorly so an enemy can swoop in and take a bunch of your provinces easily.
When I play as Date, everyone leaves me alone no matter what, because I only have potential enemies on one side, and my armies are all on that border. If I play as a clan like Takeda or Uesugi, I'm surrounded by other clans at all times from early in the game, and I have to expand in all directions. If I only have one army then I'll get invaded again and again. Even when I have two or three armies the AI will constantly attack me at my weakest borders.

Even clans I traded with and such have been declaring war on me recently thanks to it with whom I was friendly not long ago, but other clans with provinces have at most 1 ennemy. Heck my ally even broke our alliance and my vassals are barely in the positive relationship-wise now. Smoothhoof View Profile View Posts.
Try selling military access to your neighbours. The AI attacks a bit less if it thinks you are not in the way. It can get you a bit of cash too.
